As junior and youth theatre involvement grows from strength to strength, join Sonya and Steve as they discuss ways to ensure our most vulnerable stay safe, cared for and engaged within our theatre community. 

About our panel: 

Sonya Aifai: Sonya is an experienced director and production manager who has worked on productions ranging from small plays/musicals, to The National Singing School, to large scale consortium shows such as Les Miserables, Phantom of The Opera and Miss Saigon to name a few.
She has been involved in community theatre at Napier Operatic society and was instrumental in founding The Napier Operatic Society Theatre School (NOS Theatre School), which is a youth theatre program based in Napier, New Zealand, established in 2000. It provides training in all aspects of musical theatre for young performers aged 6-16. 

She is also the Zone 3 Rep for MTNZ. 

Steve Lloyd: Steve has over forty years of musical theatre in his blood starting onstage as part of local gang shows, through to school productions and is now the Production Manager for multiple consortium shows with New Plymouth Operatic Society. Steve has an active interest and working knowledge of health and safety aspects of community theatre, as well as experience working on shows like Matilda with a significantly sized cast of junior performers.
