This is where our national theatre whānau comes together to learn, share, connect and celebrate the people who make musical theatre happen.

Inspired by the idea of growth through connection, He Aka Torongā recognises that a strong theatre community is built through the relationships we create, the knowledge we share and the support we provide one another.

Whether you're a performer, director, choreographer, musical director, technician, producer, committee member or volunteer, there's a place for you at He Aka Torongā.

Our programme is built around three core training streams:

CREATE
Develop your creative practice and explore the ideas, skills and processes behind great theatre.

PERFORM
Build your confidence, strengthen your craft and learn from experienced practitioners.

PRODUCE
Explore the skills behind making theatre happen, from production and technical theatre to marketing, leadership, governance and more.

Alongside the training programme, the weekend is an opportunity to connect with theatre-makers from across the country, share ideas and experiences, celebrate excellence within our community and simply enjoy being together.
